The E-Verify Electronic Employment Verification System is Up and Running.

Soon, contractors entering into federal works contracts will be required to agree to use the electronic employment verification system (“E-Verify” ), administered by the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”), to confirm the employment eligibility of their workforce. E-Verify is an internet-based system that will take in information that an employer obtains from each newly hired employee on Form I-9, and it will check that information against records contained in DHS and Social Security Administration databases.
