An Associate from Welby, Brady & Greenblatt, LLP will be presenting on Managing Design Professionals’ Risk in the Design and Construction of Property Line Building Structures at the 2018 Structures Congress hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Program Description:

Along with the excitement, energy, and opportunity offered by a vibrant city setting comes unique challenges to developers of urban building projects. One of the most potentially perilous of these is the need to build near to, just inches away from, and sometimes up against existing neighboring structures. Design professionals involved in such projects face special risks that can bring a project to an untimely end if not properly managed.

This program will discuss the special risks that architects and engineers face in connection with the design and construction of property line building projects. It will be presented from both the engineering and legal perspectives. Through a series of case studies, it will introduce the parts of excavation and construction that present the greatest risk to design professionals, offer examples of practical engineering solutions to mitigating such risk, and discuss how design professionals can protect themselves from a professional perspective prior to, during, and after construction.

More than 1,200 professionals will attend this event from the U.S. and abroad to learn the latest in SEI/ASCE standards from industry experts.  Mr. Pantelidis concentrates a significant portion of his practice counseling, defending, and generally representing design professionals with respect to all the facets of their professional practice.
